I just had a chance to have a first look at the Nokia Lumia 800 yesterday at Carphonewarehouse. Undoubtly, this Windows phone device from the Finnish company is by far the most beautiful and elegant looking device I have ever seen. The device is rock-solid, despite the fact that the phone is certainly plastic, but it is unibody poly-carbonate we are talking. As a result, although it feels really light on the hand, it still has the premium feel of the unibody aluminum devices.
The Windows phone 7.5 OS is mostly untouched (and probably manufacturers couldn’t do much customization with it, though), looks gorgeous on the unique curve screen of the Lumia 800. The screen is one of the best mobile screens on the mobile phone industry. It is really glossy, beautiful with deep black colour.
Really, the combination of the Nokia’s unibody construction, the curve, vivid and glossy display with the Windows Phone operating system makes Nokia Lumia 800 one of the best Windows Phone devices to date. Windows Phone still lacks a few functionalities as well as the number of apps, but for the looks-and-feels it is truly hard to beat. For most people who mostly use their mobile phones for telephony functions, taking pictures and browse the web, Nokia Lumia 800 is the great choice.
On the other hand, the price of a Nokia Lumia 800 is still something to be thought. It currently has no official release price yet, but it’s expected to be £399, which is pretty high compared to other Windows Phone devices. However, if you are a fan of Nokia this one is certainly your dream-come-true. If you are looking for a Windows Phone devices, this is still among your top choices. Anyway, remember that I still don’t have the official device to do a full review, but I don’t expect the Nokia Lumia 800 to be much different to other WP devices in terms of functionalities apart from some Nokia specific apps, so I think you can take my words for this phone.
