RAGE Review

Posted by TnTonly On January - 28 - 2012

RAGE is really awesome!!! That’s especially true for old-school shooter fans like Doom and Quake. What RAGE brings is, the best shooting experience ever among all FPS games on the market. Through out the game, you will encounter all type of enemies, each ones have their own unique fighting style. Don’t think you can hide around the corner or run along the path to make your enemies chasing you around like other sissy shooting games. The mutants will climb, crawl or jump right at your face; the Authorities with organize a squad and tactically attack you; and there are huge monsters will blast the hell out of whatever you are hiding behind. As a result you will find yourself in a tight situation where your eyes have to concentrate on every bullet, you mind has to think about every solution and your mouth has to cry “SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!” while running like a little rat.

Asus Eee Note EA800 unboxing and review

Posted by TnTonly On October - 16 - 2011

Asus Eee Note EA800 is one unique device. Among the sheer amount of tablets and eReader, this one is like no other. It is surely the first of its kind, as Asus named it “note taker”. It doesn’t have a gorgeous colourful screen with a nice browser. It doesn’t have an e-ink display that looks like paper either. Instead, it sports a 8 inch grayscale non-backlit and super sensitive LCD screen and it targets student customers with the ambition of “replacing notebooks in university”. In addition to that, it also includes a 2MP camera as well as the microphone to help students record the information they study in class. Its affordable price is also a great help for students.

Consequently, this one is a hard gadget to review. Firstly, it doesn’t like any other to be compared. Secondly, it only has a very small number of users and actually that is what it is supposed to. And thirdly, this one is not available outside Taiwan, and probably won’t.  Of course it doesn’t stop people from getting one via eBay or similar websites. I got mine for £159 and had to wait about one week for it to arrive. So, let’s start with the unboxing.

MeeGo first look and preview

Posted by TnTonly On October - 9 - 2011

The news of the release of ASUS EEE X101 really excited me. The laptop looks great, much better than many netbooks on market today. It has a very attractive price, and on the top of that, it runs MeeGo – an all new operating system for both computers and mobile phones. Having looked at some videos of MeeGo running on X101 and Nokia N9, I might say it is a strong competitor for other operating systems.

However, just watching videos doesn’t do justice. I’m still curious about how MeeGo perform on actual device. Consequently, I tried downloading MeeGo to test on my Alienware m11x. The steps are easy, you can download it here and burn it into a DVD. Its volume size is about 900MB and the operating system can be run on the Live DVD without having to install it. I even customize the color of my Alienware m11x backlit keyboard just to fit the operating system, and as you can see from the picture it looks pretty nice.

iRiver Story review

Posted by TnTonly On July - 27 - 2011

Hi there. Here is another review for you. If you remember my iRiver Cover Story Touch review, you should know how great it is. (If you don’t remember or you don’t even know about it yet, you can always view it here) The iRiver Cover Story is a small, light weight and compact ebook reading device featuring a 8 level contrast e-ink touch screen. Although its display quality is far worse than most eReaders out there, it is packed with many great and unique features. For example you can reflow the pdf files so you can read pdf files just like a normal ebook in EPUB format. Or you can choose to zoom only a specific region of the pdf file, so you can cut out all of the unneccesary white margins, therefore make the text larger and easier to read. Or you can read comics or manga directly from the zip files without any conversion at all. You can even read doc/ppt files. Or you can take note in your ebook and view that later, or draw something or making note… all thanks to the touch screen. For those who don’t really care about the display quality, the iRiver Cover Story is such a great device, but for those who care, then it might be a problem, er.. thanks to the touch screen. And if someone don’t really need touch funcionalities and considering getting this or the famous Amazon Kindle, that could be a hard choice.

Fortunately, for people I mentioned above, I have another choice for you, the iRiver Story (the non-touch version). Here comes the unboxing and the review will follow shortly after that

Nintendo 3DS Review

Posted by TnTonly On May - 16 - 2011

How are you all doing, my friends? I’ve just bought myself a new Nintendo 3DS, after having put a lot of consideration into it. Before buying it, I had heard many things around the new device, both good and not-so-good things. We have heard about the innovative glass-free 3D screen, the awesome graphics, but we also have heard of the eye strain, headache and the over-priced device and games. To tell the truth, the last thing doubts me the most.

But I bought a blue one anyway. It’s not difficult for me to choose between the Cosmos Black and Aqua Blue version (Hey, doesn’t it sound a little like Alienware’s Cosmic Black and Quasar Blue?) Normally it takes me no time to choose a black one, but in this case, the blue one is much prettier than the black one, especially when you put them together.

So, how do I think about it? Well, we will know soon enough. Let’s begin with the unboxing.

Video Today

After the long wait, my Google Nexus 7 has finally arrived! Having seen so many “fail” unboxing videos before, I took extra precaution while unboxing the tablet. Fortunately the unboxing processed smoothly.

It is certainly worth the wait. My first impression of the Google Nexus 7 is that it is a superb build quality, amazing performance, nice screen and incredible Jelly Bean. All that for only £159. I will use this for a while and will create a review later, but for now I’m totally satisfy with it.
